Awaken

Once you awaken you are in awe...

You are determined to stay in this constant state of amazement.

You see life through the eyes of a child again.

You are amazed by the beauty and ugliness in all things and interactions around you.

A child takes the ugly personal and smiles at the beauty.

An awakened soul shows empathy and patience for the ugly, and appreciation and love for the beauty.

A lesson from Nature

Snow can offer you a friendly reminder...
The more you procrastinate shoveling the more the snow builds up.
Soon it goes from easy, soft snow to a hard, packed wall of snow.
One takes a shovel and smooth motions while the other takes a shovel, more force and a chisel.

Poem: The In Between

The Darkness is fading outside.
My hand can't stop writing.
The dreams are so vivid but fading fast.
My mind is trying to hold onto that moment where you are in between your unconscious and conscious  state....
My heart is momentarily open and free to express without filters.
The sun comes up...
The journey begins...
Although wide awake, am I more asleep than those waking moments?

Poem: Cowboy Boots

You see many, and you try on a few.
One day you slide your feet into that one pair and you know....
They fit so perfectly,
You feel excited,
You start thinking of everywhere you could go with them.
You begin to look at them from every angle.
You walk a little taller when you have them on.
You know they are a perfect fit, yet the hesitation begins....
Are these really the boots I want?
Are there better boots out there?
Will the juice be worth the squeeze if I choose them?
The minds attempt to be rational begins to supersede the instinctual feeling they bring.
Then comes the time to make a decision...
Instincts win over the minds attempt to be rational this time and I walk through my day a little taller and with less resistance...
What are your cowboy boots and did you try them on for awhile before talking yourself out of it?

Poem: The Pulpit

Heart pounding...
Excitement!
Fear...
Keep Going!
Hold on...
But I wanted this!
Adrenaline pumping...
Push through the fear!
Maybe I can still turn around...
So close!
No turning back now...
Shit!
Reaching my summit...
Open your heart and your mind!
What I have in me is all I can use in this moment...
Use it!
Create an experience...
Walk back down a little taller,  a little stronger, and with a little more love for yourself!
Believe it or not....
You brought this to you!
Soak it up...
You got this!
Relief...

Poem: Another Lift Off

Another lift off...
Another sun peaking over the rounded horizon
I watch the details fade and a sense of relief is felt
Not because I am safe - the risk is part of the journey
Moreover, the earth becomes a mirror of my mind and I am left with the bigger picture
Sometimes pain
Sometimes peace
Sometimes love
Sometimes excitement
Clarity is felt and as we start the descent and the details become larger and clearer again, I wonder:
"When will my mind mirror this take off frequently, and where is that balance between spaces?
